Day 5 of Offroading – In the morning we decided on breakfast again at the Moab Diner, which would also give Vince some more highway speed testing.  At breakfast Vince decided his patched up Cruiser was okay and he would continue with us for more of the trip.  After breakfast we headed south to Monticello and gassed up at the Maverik station there.  South of Monticello we turned on to Montezuma Canyon Rd.   This road is well known for cliff dwellings and petroglyphs, and we stopped at a few of them.  We were surprised to also find some modern cliff dwellings.
After lunch along the road we made our way over to US-191 and on to Bluff.

On our way to Mexican Hat we took a side trip to a rincon on San Juan River.  Some of its rock is 300 million years old.  I unknowingly picked the roughest route to it, the other route which we used to leave on, was wide and smooth. [Rincon is a dry, semicircular canyon with a butte in the middle. It is the remnant of an entrenched river meander that has been cut off from the river]   Cliff recommended dinner at the San Juan Cafe as he had eaten there before.  We found a spot to dry camp under Mexican Hat Rock along the San Juan River.
