Day 7 of Offroading – Tucker whipped up some great pancakes and sausage. While Vince cooked more sausage. We had a hardy breakfast. After breaking camp we continue around the Wolverine Loop to Horse Canyon. Horse Canyon is very scenic with majestic canyon walls, a favorite drive for me. Returning from our drive down Horse Canyon we headed up to the Burr Trail and on to Boulder.
Lunch at a great little restaurant at the end of the Burr Trail in Boulder, UT – Burr Trail Grill.
After lunch Don headed to Cedar City to visit a friend and Vince decided it was time to ease his duct taped Cruiser on home.
Ben, Tucker and Cliff continued the trip by taking Hells Backbone Road to Escalante. The sign at the beginning said it was impassable, but we didn’t let that stop us, and the road turned out to be clear and in good shape. At the mid-point the road crosses the extremely rugged Hells Backbone Canyon. The road tops out at over 9,000 feet so we saw pines, aspens and patches of snow up there. We arrived in Escalante, UT and set up camp at the Wide Hollow Campground, and had a pizza dinner at Escalante Outfitters.
